Common problems for Battery

HP Recommended

On my HP 15-bs0xx

The battery health is reported incorrectly by the system.

I charge my battery for 4 hrs to insure 100% then I can run for 3 hours and 9 minutes on battery surfing on Youtube listening to music and viewing videos. So I know my battery is good. During all that time the battery status always displays 100% remaining even a few seconds before the laptop shutdown. When I connect my charger and power up the battery displays 100% it should be near 0%. I often get a messsage of battery low when I know it is charged at 100%

The issue is this:

I want to update the BIOS using HP Support Assistant but the update fails with a code 0601 (which seems to be related to the battery status). Knowing that my battery is charged at 100%, I WANT TO DISABLE THE HP BATTERY HEALTH CHECK DURING STARTUP to at least get the BIOS update to succeed. When I get the battery drivers or battery reporting to work correctly I will re-activate the HP Battery Health Check. My present BIOS is ver F02 I am tring to update to ver F24.

Update of Jun 9 2024: I was able to update the BIOS to ver. F.74 (using another laptop, downloaded to USB key and transfered to present laptop manually)
