Hello,
I have a HP Pavilion 15 and I use Windows 10 Pro.
Windows 10 Pro comes with Hyper-V virtualization service which I would like to use. But it requires that I enable SLAT (second level address translation) which Intel calls EPT (extended page table) and VMT which Intel calls hardware assisted virtualisation. The processor an i3 is compatible for this requirement. I have confirmed this with Intel.
The software I wish to use states the following -
- Virtualization must be enabled in BIOS and CPU SLAT-capable. Typically, virtualization is enabled by default. This is different from having Hyper-V enabled. For more detail see Virtualization must be enabled in Troubleshooting.
Coreinfo and the Intel Processor Identification Utility both show the statuses as disabled
The bios does not display an option to configure the EPT or VMT - Intel had mentioned that all CPUs are enabled and that OEMs then configure the CPU. Why they have done this in this case I am unsure.
If you could assist me with enabling these settings I would be very grateful.
Regards
El Jam

Hi,
You need to enter BIOS and enable Virtualization which is disabled by default. It will either be under heading System configuration or under heading Security > System Security > enable virtualization.
To enter BIOS turn aoof PC by holding power button. Turn on PC and press ESC continously until startup menu appears and then press F10 to enter BIOS.
Hope it helps,
David

Hi David,
I very much appreciate your response
I did as you said previously... Virtualisation is also enabled in Task Manager,
You'll see from the images below
- coreinfo(exe) shows EPT and VMT as disabled
- the identification utility shows Virtualization Technology and Intel VT-x EPT as disabled
- The bios - Virtualisation Technology states enabled
- The task manager (Performance tab) is also enabled
As stated before the software i intend to use states that the EPT should be enabled and Intel inform me the same thing.
