Generally it cannot be done. The system will allocate as much video memory as needed for the task at hand. In some cases, on integrated video systems, it means that some games and video intensive apps will refuse to run because they do not detect adequate video memory, even though the system would be up to running it. If you want to run software or games with demanding video requirements you need a laptop with dedicated video. We do not know exactly what you have as you do not provide a model number.
