Hi,

I tried to upgrade the M2 SSD but as I pulled the installed M2 SSD out of the socket I raised it at an angle and unfortuntely this broke(dislocated) the socket so I can no longer use the M2 slot.

So instead I need to add a SATA SSD but there are no cables or brackets inside the laptop case as this laptop did not orginally  come with SATA SSD drive or hardisk .

Please can you tell me exactly what parts I need to install a SATA ssd drive? I can see a socket called HDD cable. Can  I get a standard Hdd cable connector, and will it plug into the SSD drive socket, or does HDD mean that it has to connect to a hard disk drive instead of a ssd? Also what brackets will I need etc... and what type.

Please could you specify the parts exactly as I am not sure what I need? Thanks for your help. My laptop has no type of disc storage currently inside it.

Kind regards

Andrew

You're very welcome, Andrew.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't know if any HDD cable would work.

I think you would be better off taking your chances with one of these on eBay UK.

I searched by the drive cable part number.

I suppose you could duct tape or velcro the drive to the PC somehow.

Hi, Andrew.

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook's model series.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06248787

Chapter 3, page lists the parts and part numbers needed to install a 2.5" drive.

Hard drive brackets  L19469-001
Hard drive cable        L23889-001

It does not appear that you can order the parts you need from HP.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the quick response.

I had a look and just for a HDD cable the price is £31 exc vat, which is exorbitant. The Harddrive bracket was not in stock by the resell

Ive seen HDD cables at non-authorised sellers for 5 pounds. What are the chances of this working with my laptop ? Woudnt the cable be a standard cable that would work in any laptop?

And what would suggest about hardrive bracket. I might just get some tape and tape the ssd to the inside of the case.

Kind regards
