Hi:

You can use the HP cloud recovery tool to reinstall W10 on the new NVMe SSD and upgrade back to W11.

Here is an info link for how to use that utility.  You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media with.

I recommend you temporarily disconnect the 2.5" drive before using the cloud recovery tool in case it reinstalls windows on the 2.5" drive and not the SSD.

Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the SSD installation procedure.

Hi, paul_Tikkanen  thanks for your reply.

I have got to know that I need to initialize the drive and some more  other instructions to use the new NVMe ;

Could you please help me with the end-to-end installation process after fixing my new  NVMe on the motherboard?

You're very welcome.

If you plan on installing Windows on the SSD and not using it for storage, you do not need to initialize the drive.

The media you create with the cloud recovery tool will automatically find the drive and install the original factory operating system on it.

The cloud recovery tool link I provided has all the instructions you need to use it and the service manual has all of the instructions to physically open the notebook to install the SSD.

Hi Paul_Tikkanen,

But I will want to use it as storage as well;

Also please confirm if I can move windows to SSD without any backup/reset options.

Hi:

If you don't want to reinstall Windows, you can use a free utility such as Macrium Reflect to clone the existing hard drive's configuration to the NVMe SSD.

You want the software on the left side of the webpage under the Backup at Home section.
