How to path custom boot option in bios to M.2 slot?

I have a NGFF M.2 SSD installed in the laptop with windows 10 already installed on it. I can boot to the OS manually by selecting "Boot from EFI File" , It shows the m.2 drive there as a huge string of characters, select it, and then navigate to EFI/Boot/bootx64.efi

If I just leave the computer to boot by itself, it doesn't read the m.2 as a possible bootable option, and it says no OS installed. There are no boot order options to move up that work either.

There is a custom boot option where i can type in my own path, but simply putting /EFI/Boot/bootx64.efi does nothing. It seems I need to somehow specify the device in this custom boot option, but I have no idea what to type in to point it to the m.2.

Anyone have experience with this or have any ideas?

As a side note, if I do a fresh OS install to the m.2 while there is also a sata device installed, it automatically creates its own partition during the install on the sata device, and it boots fine having that pointed to my SSD in some way, but I often change out my storage drives and often don't have one installed at all. I need this to work with just an M.2 drive installed.

Just define the custom both path as \EFI\Boot\bootx64.efi
