Hello, on the HP Pavilion G6, I already have the computer fully functional with Windows 11 but when the processor is running low and idle, with a temperature below 55°C, you can constantly hear the fan turning on and off. I'm including a video link where you can see it (the phone's microphone picks up the sound, but it sounds much louder than it actually is). Although it's not very loud, it's been resolved, but it's very annoying and shortens the fan's life.
Is there any utility originally supplied by HP that could control the fan and prevent this problem? There's nothing in the BIOS that can help.
It may seem like the fan isn't working properly, but when the laptop starts any activity that raises the temperature, it revs up and runs smoothly You can hear the sound here, it is very annoying, not the volume since it is not heard that loud, but the fact of constantly starting and stopping
Fan sound constantly stopping and starting again
The only thing I've seen that detects speed and allows for some adjustments is a third-party utility called "hirschmann/nbfc: NoteBook FanControl," but I can't configure it to do what I'm looking for.
Thanks in advance.

Hi @Jjaviercs,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your PC!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Update BIOS and Drivers:
- Ensure that your BIOS and system drivers are up to date. Updated BIOS and drivers often include improvements and fixes that can help with fan control.
- Visit the HP Support page for your specific Pavilion g6 model and download the latest BIOS and driver updates.
Change Power Settings:
- Adjust the power settings to manage the cooling behavior.
- Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep > Additional power settings.
- Select the power plan you are using and click Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings.
- Scroll down to Processor Power Management > System Cooling Policy and ensure it's set to Active.
Control Fan Speeds:
- Use software tools to control fan speeds manually. Tools such as HWMonitor, SpeedFan, or the manufacturer-specific tool can help you set a consistent fan speed.
- Install a suitable fan control software and configure it to maintain a stable fan speed.
Clean the Fan and Vents:
- Dust and debris can cause the fan to turn on more frequently than necessary.
- Turn off the laptop and remove the battery if possible.
- Use compressed air to clean the fan and vents to ensure proper airflow.
Use Cooling Pads:
- A cooling pad can provide additional cooling to the laptop and reduce the need for the internal fan to turn on and off constantly.
- Place the laptop on a cooling pad while in use.
Reduce Background Processes:
- Limit the number of programs running in the background that may be causing the CPU to work harder and generate more heat.
- Use Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to monitor and manage startup programs and background processes.
Modify Fan Curve in BIOS:
- Check if your BIOS settings offer fan curve adjustments.
- Restart the laptop and enter BIOS settings by pressing the appropriate key (usually F10 or Esc).
- Look for thermal settings or fan control options and adjust the fan curve to be less aggressive.
I hope this helps.
