I want to check if this model has a extra hard drive port as I need to upgrade the hard drive space.  It is a HP Gaming Laptop model 15-ec1008ca.  I found 7 screws, but I think there may be an 8th screw somewhere as I can not get the cover off.

I also will need to find out which kinds of hard drives this laptop can use.  I am guessing a smaller SATA 3.

@SAWLewin , welcome to the forum.

Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the laptop: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06446633

On Pages 28 and 29 are instructions for removing the back cover.  It only shows 7 screws in the diagram.

On Pages 29 and 30 it shows the compatible M.2's and on Pages 33 and 34 it shows a list of compatible Hard Drives and Assembly.

It has all of the other information that you will need for the laptop.

Thank you so much, that is exactly what I needed; and more :).  So, it was not the number of screws that was confusing me, but where to prop up the cover which is nicely shown in the maintenance guide.  This does not only answer this question, but probably a few more I would of had in the future.
