Hi!  I'm trying to replace the RTC battery on an Elitebook 8460p.

I found the "Maintenance and Service Guide" for Elitebook 8460p which is also the service manual for Elitebook 8460w and Probook 6460B. It has a short 1 minute method on page 78 to replace the RTC battery but to my surprise this method is not good for this notebook, the manual is wrong.  The battery is not there.   I downloaded the guide here:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/setup-user-guides/hp-elitebook-8460p-notebook-pc/5056942

I have found a total disassembly video on Youtube, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_27adUD--f0&t=692s

This video takes 14 minutes and 10 seconds to even reveal the location of the black RTC battery, which he takes out at 15:52-16.00 minutes of the video.

Is there any simpler method that skips the unnecessary removal of items?  The components and cable ribbons removed here seem fragile for home removal for a simple battery change. I'd like to skip the unnecessary steps to reduce possible mistakes.

Thanks.

In order to access the RTC battery, you will need to remove the top cover, so there is no short and sweet method of removing and replacing the RTC battery.

Thanks for your answer. I understand that there is no short and sweet method, but I do believe that the total disassembly video I linked above makes many unnecessary steps for this specific task. The video aims to completely take the notebook apart and that is why it takes 16 minutes for an expert to get the RTC battery out.  I am not an expert in taking notebooks apart, this is my first time.  Its not that I don't have time for this task, but I'm afraid to damage components during this process.

I also wonder if there is another service guide out there with the correct steps to follow.
