I have a bad charger port. I have tried a new power adapter, but the contact in the charger port seems to be broken, and the computer display only shows "charging" (and the light goes on at the port) if I push the charger cable very strongly into the charger port. Once I release pressure, the computer does not show "charging" and the light at the charger port goes out. Seem clearly to be a broken charger port. From the parts list, I need a 720538-001 charger port, but I can't find out the procedure for actually replacing it. The "service manual" online only shows replacement procedures for the main parts, such as hard drive, disply, etc. Nothing for the charger port.
Anyone know if it's a complex procedure, or does one simply take off the back and, volila!, there it is?

@marvf1 wrote:That only discusses replacing the cable. Am I missing something? The problem I seem to have is with the physical connector inside the charging "hole". This is a mechanical component that I believe does have a cable connected to it which then plugs into the motherboard per the page you referred to. However, the page doesn't seem to address removing and replacing the mechanical component to which the cable is attached. Is it held down with screws - no mention. Is it simply held down by snapping into place - no mention. I don't see a section that is titled "Replace charging port" without the word "cable."
The "Mechanical Component" is soldered to the end of the "CABLE"
The charging port is part of the cable.
Very easy to replace!!!
