Loss of performance is often caused by too many background services running at the same time, a hard drive that is running out of free space or malicious programs running in the background and consuming resources. Running a virus scanner and a malware program can root out any serious problems and then normal maintenance of removing programs you are no longer using and deleting unneeded files can free up resources to allow your computer to run better.
