HP Laptop Model 15 bs188cl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP Laptop Model 15 bs188cl, 64-bit, 12gb memory, 2T hard drive running Windows 10 version 1903.

I NEED to have the touchpad on my laptop turned OFF.  I use a Marble Ball USB Mouse and this touchpad drives me crazy.  I edit books and write books and don't have time to be chasing down where the cursor is every time I accidentally hit the touchpad.  My work is at a standstill until I get this fixed.

I had a fix that worked great in Windows 10 version 1803 but does not work in 1903.

Can someone please help me.  I have tried every suggestion I've seen on the internet and nothing turns it off.

Thanks for your help.

@CaroleCR Welcome to HP Community!

Use the below steps to disable the touchpad when the mouse is connected to the device:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Click on Devices.
  3. Click on Touchpad.
  4. Under "Touchpad," clear the Leave touchpad on when a mouse is connected option.

Once you completed the steps, the touchpad will remain disabled unless you disconnect your mouse.

IF the option is missing, update the touchpad drivers and then try again: click here to download

Keep me posted, as I (Or a trusted colleague) shall follow-up on this case to ensure the concern has been addressed,

And your device is up and running again, only in case you don't get back to us, first!

That said, If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That'll help us, and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.
