17-f053us is the model. I did not ask for the serial number please edit your post to remove it so bad guys don't get hold of it. Don't respond to any phone calls from "HP Tech Support" callers. HP will not call you unless you have called them first.

Memory part numbers:

Memory modules : 2 GB memory module 691739-005 4 GB memory module 691740-005 8 GB memory module 693374-005 2 GB memory module 652972-005 8 GB memory module 670034-005

Service Manual

See page 116 and I hate to tell you that yours is one of the models where you must remove the motherboard to access the memory modules. You do have 2 memory slots and can install up to 2 x 8 gig modules of DDR3L-1600 like this:

These modules sold by amazon prime will work.

We need precise model number please. HP Pavilion 17 inch dates back to about 2007 and has gone through maybe 10 versions and the answer for each would be a bit different.

In running Windows tap esc + fn and a system properties box should come up and give you a product number. Or there is a label on the bottom of the laptop or inside the battery bay.

Thanks Huffer

I was able to get a version of a compatible module from my favorite manufacturer with the info you supplied.   The link to the service manual was a source of useful info.  Was able to get things apart, the module in and the pieces back together and working.   But those who may still have this model and considering upgrading the memory module it takes a lot patience for a DIYer and some bad words.   There are a lot of screws and a number of ribbon cables with several that like to pop out of their board connectors to deal with.   That a few bucks were saved and not a way to access the modules designed in is sad.   A good heads up to check what is involved with servicing before buying a laptop or simular device.
