Hi @Nikki144,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To install or enable French accents on your HP laptop, you typically don't need to install anything extra; instead, you change the keyboard layout or use keyboard shortcuts to type accents. Here are several methods you can use, depending on your operating system (Windows or macOS).
For Windows 10/11:
Add a French Keyboard Layout:
- Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language.
- Click on Add a language and select French.
- Once added, you can switch between languages by clicking on the language icon in the taskbar or by pressing Windows key + Spacebar.
Using ALT Codes:
- Ensure your Num Lock is on.
- Hold down the Alt key and enter the code on the numeric keypad. For example, Alt + 0233 for é, Alt + 0224 for à.
Using the United States-International Keyboard:
- Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language.
- Click on English (United States) and then Options.
- Add a keyboard and select United States-International.
- With this keyboard layout, you can type accents by pressing the apostrophe (') followed by the letter (e.g., ' + e = é).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
