I am trying to make my two external monitors work with my new HP Pavilion 15t cs300 laptop (product # 6WU81AV). This setup previously worked with my other HP laptop without issue.

I have:

HP Laptop (https://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-pavilion-laptop-15t-6wu81av-1)

2x Dell 27in Monitors - S2719HS, using HDMI out (https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/dell-27-monitor-s2719h/apd/210-audl/monitors-monitor-accessorie...)

YXwin USB-C Docking Station (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0823LVCFG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

I keep getting an error when I connect the docking station to the laptop. It worked fine with my old HP laptop from work, but this is a different type of USB C port it appears (doesn't charge through the port for one). Any thoughts or help much appreciated!

It is a CTO machine, we can't find its specs but it should have following ports

  • AC Smart Pin adapter plug
  • Audio-out (headphone)/audio-in (microphone) combo jack
  • HDMI v2.0 supporting up to 1920 × 1080 @ 60Hz
  • RJ-45 (network) jack
  • USB 3.1 Type-A ports (2, right side)
  • USB Type-C port; USB 3.1 Gen 1 (left side); supports data transfer
  • HDMI supporting up to 4096 × 2160 @ 60Hz (select products only)

All I can say, the  it USB-C port is not fully compatible with any standard, full specs USB-C hub/dock.  If you wish to have 2 or more external monitors (and notebook monitor - total 3), please enter your requirement on the following link and it will find for you few USB-A DisplayLink Certified options on market today including some HP products (you can select HP before Search)

@Banhien

thank you! any chance that a USB C -> USB A adapter would work with my existing docking station before I spend a ton on a new one?
