That is why I suggest a clean install. A lot of people have this issue.

So what do I need to do?

You need a computer with internet access and a 16 gb thumb drive. Use the HP Cloud Recovery app. It will make a bootable usb drive you can use to put Windows 10 with all the right drivers onto the new SSD.

Remove the hard drive and have just the SSD in the laptop. After you have made the usb thumb drive, boot from it and put the original software onto the SSD and it will boot up and run. You can then put the hard drive back in.

Very nice. This is a long thread with lots of info so you may want to accept as solution, making it easier to get to from search engines when others have similar issues.
