Microsoft Windows 11

I want to upgrade ssd for my hp 15-dw3000 model laptop (currently have 256 gb ssd), but it was stated that my motherboard will support maximum 512 gb ssd or I can buy 1 tb hdd in addition to 256 gb. If I use 1 Tb ssd will my motherboard be damaged or will the computer not work at all?

Best regards

What is your 15-dw3000 (1A3Y5AV)  machine ? It could be one of over 120 machines on the following list

You said it has 256GB now probably it is an M.2 SSD you can upgrade to 1TB or 2TB (512GB is for pre-built machines). Using standard M.2 NVMe/SATA 3 SSD's on market today such as

           Samsung 970 EVO

Regards.
