I received an HP active pen for my HP Pavilion Laptop. The pairing worked fine, but somehow the screen won't react to the pen, but to my fingertip it does. Why is that?

Even if your computer is compatible with an active stylus, the kind of pen does make a difference.

What?

If the computer is compatible with an active stylus, you need the right type of pen.

The "HP Active Pen G3" is typically compatible with Elitebook business machines.

Examples

HP EliteBook x360 1040 G5 Notebook PC

HP EliteBook x360 830 G6 Notebook PC

HP Elite x2 G4 Tablet

HP EliteBook x360 830 G8

How to check

Open the home page for your computer

Open Category Manuals

Find and Open the Maintenance and Service Guide (exact name varies)

Search the contents of the document for "Pen "

Consider a Passive Stylus / Pen

Capacitive / Passive pen is not the same thing as an active stylus, of course.

Passive pen works like your finger on the touchscreen.
