I noticed today when opening my laptop that the screen is separating from the clamshell in the bottom left hand corner. Opening or closing the screen makes the screen separate from the rear cover to an alarming degree. I have not dropped it or anything and it mostly just sits on a shelf.
After some googling it looks like this is a very common failure of this model. The screws aren’t properly reinforced so can break with normal use of opening and closing it. I bought it a while ago so I don’t think it’s under warranty anymore, but I’m wondering if this is something that could be repaired through HP?
Aside from this issue the laptop works great and hasn’t been used much so it would feel wasteful to have to retire it over a cosmetic issue like this. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks!
