Hp Envy 13 2021 Ba1001ca
Microsoft Windows 11
  • Hi, i have an Hp Envy 13 2021 BA1001CA Laptop. A few days ago, my laptop while working became dead. I tried to charge it using original charger. When I plugged the charger, the light did not turn on. Then I tried to power it on on but it was not powering on. This issue has occured to me thrice. Before I took it to a repairer and he opened it and maybe removed the cmos or battery and then he plugged it back and it turned on like nothing happened. I wanted to ask that what is the reason for this problem (is the bios faulty) and is there a cmos battery in this laptop.
  •  Thanks

Hi @aniq_jamil,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've been experiencing an intermittent power issue with your HP Envy 13 2021 BA1001CA. There are several potential causes for the problem you're describing, and I'll try to address them as thoroughly as possible.

Potential Causes and Solutions

Battery or Power Supply Issues:

  • Battery Health: The laptop’s internal battery might be faulty or unable to hold a charge. If the laptop’s internal battery is removable, consider checking its health or replacing it.
  • Power Adapter: Ensure that the power adapter is functioning correctly. Sometimes the adapter might not deliver the required power due to a fault or damage.

CMOS Battery:

  • CMOS Battery: The CMOS battery helps in retaining BIOS settings when the laptop is powered off. While some laptops have a removable CMOS battery, others have a non-removable battery soldered onto the motherboard. For many modern laptops, including some HP Envy models, the CMOS battery is integrated and not user-serviceable.
  • Resetting BIOS: If the laptop was not powering on, and resetting the CMOS helped, it could be related to BIOS settings or corruption. However, modern laptops typically handle BIOS resets via a different method, such as a pinhole reset or using a specific key combination during boot.

BIOS Issues:

  • Corrupt BIOS: A corrupt BIOS could prevent the laptop from starting up. BIOS updates or resets might be needed, but they should be done carefully to avoid bricking the motherboard.

Internal Hardware Issues:

  • Loose Connections: Sometimes internal hardware components might not be properly seated, or connectors could be loose. This could include the internal battery, RAM, or even the motherboard connections.
  • Motherboard Issues: If internal components such as the motherboard are failing, this could cause intermittent power issues.

Troubleshooting Steps

Check the Power Adapter and Battery:

  • Try using a different compatible power adapter if available.
  • If the laptop has a removable battery, try removing it and then plugging in the power adapter to see if it powers on.

Hard Reset:

  • Perform a hard reset by disconnecting the power adapter and removing any external devices. Hold down the power button for about 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power, then try powering on the laptop again.

BIOS and CMOS:

  • If you suspect a BIOS issue, you might need to update or reset it. This usually requires accessing BIOS settings during startup, but if the laptop won’t power on at all, this might be challenging.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Gaya, Thanks for helping buddy. Two days ago, I opened my laptop and disconnected the battery. I then connected the adapter. With the battery, no light was on. When i disconnected the battery, the white light turned on for some time, then it also turned off. I also pressed the power button for 20 seconds to reset the CMOS. I couldn't figure out anything. Then I left the laptop for 2 days. Today , I connected the power adapter. The light turned orange and it started charging. I turned it on and it displayed after 15 seconds that cmos waas reset to default and then it started to boot and it charged and everything worked from then. I dont even know what actually happened.
Btw, Thanks for helping buddy.
