HP ENVY x360 Laptop - 13-ay0504sa

The left hinge on my envy 360 broke when i opened it causing some splintering off the screen. It has always been treated gently, never dropped or bashed and rarely used on the 360 screen. It is just out of warranty and no=one at hp wants to help me find a solution. I have read that this is an extremely common issue and wonder if anyone has managed to get support from hp?
