Microsoft Windows 11

I am having an issue with the battery life for this laptop. Currently I primarily use it for Internet. I have noticed that just solely using Google chrome the battery was  losing alot of power.  In 2 hours I was down to 64%. It seemed to have slowed down the drain after I stopped doing anything.

I have already read the forums and done the following:

  • Uninstalled battery driver and reinstalled
  • Checked got bios update and system all of which are up to date.
  • Tested the battery and was tested as normal. Also just recently turned on Google chrome energy saver and changed power mode to best power efficiency.

Currently I am out of the warranty by 2 months however hardware warranty is 15 days from expiration.

Any help would be most appreciated

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.

You can certainly replace the battery -- after a year, the little 3-cell battery is not as strong as it was.

This is normal "wear and tear" --age and normal use does result in the battery becoming weaker over time.

If you are unhappy with the current performance,

Remove and replace the battery.

Thanks for the reply. Would changing the battery provide substantial increase? It's seems a little premature to have to replace the battery after only 1 year.

You are welcome.

In my opinion:

Replacing a well-used, 3-Cell,  1year old battery with a new battery is generally a good thing.

Whether replacing the battery will improve performance to the extent you expect is not something I can answer.

If you think it's too early, then wait.

Keep an eye on the performance.

When the battery is not charging enough to run the computer for your needs, replace.

For example,  I've replaced batteries when they stop charging to about 73%.

For my needs, a battery that only charges to that level should be replaced.

Long life business grade systems and batteries might go three to five years.

Smaller consumer grade systems and batteries might need replacement at about a year to a year and some months.
