Hp Envy x360 Hinge Issue Failure Poor Design

Like many others the hinge has failed on my mother's laptop. Really well cared for but this evening the hinge seems to have twisted and shattered the screen. 

Please assist

This is the known weak point of the x360 line: the hinge screws anchor into brass inserts in the plastic display back cover, and once those tear out the hinge has nothing to hold on to. Out of warranty, HP will normally quote a full display assembly, which is why the repair looks disproportionately expensive. A shop repair is usually cheaper: hinge kit + display back cover + bezel, all three ordered by the spare part numbers listed in HP PartSurfer for your exact model. If the cover itself is only cracked and the inserts are intact, a competent tech can often re-anchor it, but do not expect that to last if the laptop gets carried around daily....
