Seems that if I chargeMy laptop fully and turn it off It will not hold the power. and will discharge and I will need to charge it again to use it.

So if I charge it in the morning maybe by the evening the charge is gone and the laptop hasn’t been used

P@OluO,

Good day. Thanks for stopping by the HP forums. I will be glad to assist you and let’s get right to it. Great description of the issue. It is amply appreciated.

I will be providing a roadmap with some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. Let us try these steps:

  • DId it occur after a recent power outage or surge?
  • Did you check with a  different charger?

For now, try these steps:

  • Uninstall the ACPI drivers from device manager for the battery.
  •  Then test and calibrate the battery.
  • Then change the power plan to the windows default plan.

Steps to uninstall the ACPI drivers

  • Right-Click on start button> click device manager> Batteries>then select the s drivers and right-click on it and uninstall all battery drivers.
  • Then restart the computer and check again.

  • Link for battery testing and calibration:https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04700771 (HP Notebook PCs - Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows)
  • If battery diagnostics fail then Make a note of the failure code.
  • Link for changing power plans: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04752217 (HP Notebook PCs - Managing Power Options (Windows 10)

Then try these steps to reinstall the drivers:

  • Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand display adapters>then select the display drivers that are listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.
  • Check the box that states delete the software for this device.
  • Then restart the computer and update the bios chipset and graphics drivers from this link: http://hp.com/drivers then follow the on-screen instructions after selecting the country and entering the product or model number of the notebook.

Now check for issue resolution. For further assistance please perform all the relevant steps that best describe your current issue from this link: https://support.hp.com/za-en/product/hp-pavilion-15-bc200-notebook-pc/13810158/model/15255514/docume...    (HP Notebook PCs - Battery Does Not Power Notebook or Hold a Charge)

This should do the trick if the computer has no hardware issues. Otherwise, it needs to be repaired. I am being honest about it by keeping your best interest in mind.

Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂
