HP Pavilion - 15-cs3003ca
Microsoft Windows 11

My HP Pavilion 15 cs3003ca suddenly stopped working and refused to even boot. I'm running Windows 11

After removing the battery (which was swollen - had to be replaced), and discharging any remaining power (by removing the power cord and battery & holding the power button for 60 seconds), I was able to boot the laptop on AC Power. I ordered a genuine HP battery, installed it, and was able to boot the PC on battery only. But, when I connected the power cord - it didn't charge the battery or even gave power to the pc (no Led at all: neither orange (charging) nor white (ac power, not charging)). (mind you, the battery is not the issue, I tried two different batteries and the original swollen one which still works) - same result

To troubleshoot this issue, I did the following:

1. Tested if the AC Adapter is working: I reverted to the last situation when the Adapter worked - I removed the battery, discharged any remaining power (on the laptop & the power adapter) - and connected the power cord ONLY (no battery). It worked, and the computer booted.

2. Updated the BIOS to the latest version (and any/all Windows, Driver, etc. updates available)

3. Finally, with the power cord inserted (working after following step 1 above) and the computer shut down, I inserted the battery and voila - the LED color changed from white to orange - the battery began charging.

4. I did the Manual Calibration as mentioned in the HP website

Nevertheless, whenever I remove the power cord and reinsert it, it will not work - the laptop will run on battery, and no power is transmitted from the adapter to the laptop (no orange or white LED light at all). Again, if I remove the battery, do the power discharge & plug in the power cord, the computer runs on AC power.

So right now I know that both the battery AND the adapter work well, but they seem to be mutually exclusive - I can only use one or the other. If I want to charge the battery, I have to disassemble the laptop, unscrew and remove the battery, do everything I described above - which is of course ridiculous.

I didn't see any similar issue reported, hence any help/ideas are appreciated.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. This seems like a hardware issue with the computer.

let's try these steps:

  • 1. Go to Start, search for Device Manager, and open this result.
  • 2. Expand batteries.
  • 3. Right-click on the ACPI option (usually the 2nd option) and select delete or uninstall. Follow the prompts.
  • 4. Shut down the computer.
  • 5. Disconnect the charger.
  • 6. Remove the battery. (only for removable battery)
  • 7. Hold down the power button for 1 minute.
  • 8. Insert the battery only. (only for removable battery)
  • 9. Attempt to turn the battery on.
