pavilion DV4 1117-NR
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a Hp Pavilion DV4 1117-NR laptop. I upgraded to windows 10, Installed 8gb of Ram, 500Gb SSD Drive and i want to upgrade the cpu.  What is the best upgrade cpu i can install to this laptop without having problems.  Right now it has the Intel Core 2 Duo T5800

Hi:

 

Run this free utility that I zipped up and attached below to determine the chipset your notebook has.

 

If it has the Mobile Intel GM45 chipset, then you can upgrade to the fastest Intel processor listed in chapter 1 of the service manual.

Ok i will run that shortly, from what i was reading that if i have the intel core 2 duo t5800 then i cant go to the intel core 2 duo t9600 because they are a different socket and pin number is this correct?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it will work...what I don't like is the T9600 runs hotter.

 

My understanding is that PPGA is often abbreviated PGA.

 

You need to get the 478 pin processor and not the BGA because that is the kind that is soldered to the motherboard.
