Hp Pavilion G6 1040ew
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello

I am the owner of Hp Pavilion G6 1040ew. I am very satisfied of work of my laptop, but Im curious, how can I upgrade my computer. Im interesting in add the RAM memory and change the CPU. I came across a lot of opinions, how much memory i can install. Some soures tell about max 4GB, another max 8GB. What is the truth?

The second thing is the CPU. I know, that laptop have G2 socet, but is it any software limits about the change CPU. Any list of supported processors will we very usefull.

Thanks You for any help.

Best regards

Hi,

There is a document called  Maintenance and Service Guide on the following link (the last one):

     http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-g6-Notebook-PC-series/5046257/model/5091294/manuals

  1. CPU: Your machine currently has 2.53 GHz Intel Core i3-380M CPU. You can upgrade using CPU's under  Intel® Previous Generation column. Page 79 shows you part number and how to replace CPU.
  2. RAM: Your machine currently has 3GB of RAM (2GB+1GB) and from information on page 3, you can get up to 8GB (4GB+4GB). Page 51 shows you part number and how to replace RAM.

Regards.

So the Intel i5 480m is the best cpu that i can install. I think that is not worth, because I won't feel a huge different.

Thanks for Your response.
