My sister has a Hp Spectre x360 Convertible Model 15-ap012dx  with a 512 gb m.2 drive.  What is the biggest drive I put in it? the manual says only a 1 tb drive.  Can it go to a 2tb drive?  what are the exact specifications for the drive.   M.2 sata or nand or nvme  etc....

Its specs

It has 256 GB mSATA SSD now (not normal M.2 SATA nor NVMe) .  mSATA and M.2 SATA run same speed but they are not the same format, you can see what they are

In theory, the number is very big but due to physical size (and many vendors don't manufacture them) therefore finding a 2TB very hard. I believe Samsung has them and very expensive too. I can't find 2TB on market today, please find yourself or use 1TB such as

Hi, @hagsmich

I think the HP specs on the drive your notebook comes with are incorrect.

I think they meant to write 256 GB M.2 SATA SSD.

Chapter 1 of the maintenance and service guide on your notebook's support page indicates that both M.2 2280 SATA and M.2 2280 NVMe SSD's are supported.

The drive capacities are just what HP offered in the model series.

While I cannot guarantee a 2 TB SSD would work, I don't know why one wouldn't.
