Common problems for Battery

Hi Mr. Robot:

When I buy a $2,000+ machine I do not expect to become an expert in updating my BIOS, taking apart the machine and removing the battery, etc.  I expect it to work.

I have done these thing to no avail.  This laptop is almost useless because the battery does not hold a change.  When fully charged it is useful for about 50% of the advertised battery life.  That is fraud.

If it does not work (and it does not) then I expect the company that sold the laptop to either FIX it or refund my $$$.

What is HP going to do?

I could not agree with this Top Student more.  None of the fixes have worked for me either. [edit] What is HP going to do.  My next step is to light up social media.

My 15-inch Spectre X360 convertible laptop works normally but would have little battery charge left after being fully charged and then left shut down for a week. Internet search for a solution was fruitless so I had to think.. Either the battery was discharging internally (unlikely) or some circuitry was still active while shut down (possible if some optional setting was activated, like watching for a wake-up signal from a bluetooth device or the Internet). I could find no such optional setting and so assumed that the motherboard was disconnected by a relay while shut down. What else could be drawing current? Watson, you are sitting on my pipe! (Sherlock had looked for it in all other possible locations). In this case it was a USB flash drive that I kept installed in the USB port on the left side. This was apparently causing some battery drain because removing it solved the problem. Now I can leave the fully-charged laptop shut down for three weeks and it still shows 82% charge when started.

Perhaps some other Spectre owners have a similar situation.

Where do I find this Sphinx solution to the laptop issue??

Please help!

Hi Zestyzeeh,

I don't recall knowing about a Sphinx solution. I just tried searching for it on google.com search engine but did not find anything useful.

If your issue is that the battery goes flat while the HP Spectre X360 15 -inch laptop is shut down, this is what I found:

This laptop has a feature that allows it to charge a phone from a usb port while it is shut down, so if anything that draws a current is left in a USB port, like a flash drive, it will discharge the battery. The easy solution is to leave nothing plugged in to a usb port. The better solution us to press f10 while the laptop is booting up to go into the setup menu, where you can turn off this usb charge feature.
