Would it be possible to upgrade the i5 processor to an i7 processor ? Also what models of the processor would it be under .  Thank you for your time !

According to chapter 3 of the service manual, different motherboards are used for the 45W quad core processors.

It is highly unlikely an i7 quad core processor will work in your motherboard since it only supports the dual core 35W processors.

 

You could upgrade to the i5-540M.

 

Not sure it would be worth the trouble.

 

You'll have to make that decision.
