Hi @Alaundon,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand your concern about the right side of your HP ENVY x360 screen separating near the hinge. Since you rely on the laptop for work, it’s completely understandable that you want to prevent the damage from getting worse.

Please avoid forcing the screen closed, applying pressure to the separated area, or repeatedly opening and closing the laptop. Doing so could potentially cause further damage to the hinge assembly, display panel, or surrounding components.

The cause of the separation needs to be assessed on your laptop. A physical inspection is important to determine whether the issue involves the hinge, mounting points, display assembly, or another component.

I recommend contacting an authorized HP service center for a professional inspection and repair assessment. The service team can check the hinge and screen assembly and advise you on the available repair options.

You can locate the nearest HP service center using our Service Center Locator:

Until the laptop is inspected, I recommend keeping it in a safe position and avoiding unnecessary movement of the screen. The service team can also advise you on how to safely use and transport the laptop after the repair.

If you need further assistance or have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Thank you,

would I be costed for this?

Hi  @Alaundon

Thanks for reaching back!

Whether there will be a cost depends on a few factors, including your laptop's warranty status. If the device is still covered under warranty and the issue is determined to be a warrantable hardware defect, the repair may be covered. However, if the warranty has expired or if the damage is found to be accidental or physical damage, repair charges may apply.

Since the exact cause can only be determined after a physical inspection, I recommend having the laptop evaluated by an authorized HP service center. They will be able to assess the issue and provide you with information regarding any applicable repair costs before proceeding.
