Envy m7-k111dx hard drive failed.
So I have a new one on order with similar specs. Will this be compatible???
What I truly wanted was the top of the line but I stumbled upon a page saying that only a select few were actually supported by the system 😞
Is this true ?? If I were to upgrade to say a ssd 2tb 7200 what would that require ? If even possible Thanks in advance !!!
Below is what I have on order..
Seagate BarraCuda 1TB Internal Hard Drive HDD – 2.5 Inch SATA 6 Gb/s 5400 RPM 128MB

In theory all 2.5" SATA 3 HDD's should work but to be sure is to be sure, please use reliable HDD's from known brands which supply HDD's to HP such as Hitachi, Toshiba, Seagate, Western Digital ..

SSD's don't spin/rotate therefore no SSD carries 7200RPM. HDD's with 2TB and 7200RPM are OK for your machine because their thickness are 9.5mm or under, Thicker HDD's won't fit your machine physically.

It is OK, it has 128MB cache, a bit slow because it only spins at 5400RPM
If you wish, please use the following compatible SSD's they are more expensive than HDD's but a lot faster.

I truly appreciate your help !
I ran across this post and that's what stopped me from buying something better.. https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebooks-Archive-Read-Only/Putting-an-nvme-m-2-ssd-in-my-laptop/td-p/...
Maybe I misunderstood as I am no expert.
I will send my order back in a heart beat if I could install something like this Seagate FireCuda Gaming (Compute) 2TB Solid State Hybrid Drive Performance SSHD – 2.5 Inch SATA 6GB/s Flash Accelerated for Gamingly
