HP Envy 15t
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
So my laptop started closing all the windows and was not responding so I restarted it. It started showing a black screen and wouldnt do much. Then I got a recovery screen option which I chose the one where I can keep my files but install everything the laptop did not come with (I had purchased Windows 10 with the laptop on hp.com)

Now the screen is showing No boot device found Hard drive (3fo)
It has passed the memory check, failed the hard drive check and smart check and is showing a failure id.

Im not sure what to do now as my warranty has recently expired. Please help!

It means hard drive is failing or had failed

You need to replace it with a new one. I understand you're out of warranty.

This is your notebook: HP ENVY - 15t-as100 CTO Notebook PC

You can use LiveCD to boot into and salvage all the necessary files from failed HDD to external drive:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCD

Or take out the HDD, use SATA to USB adapter and connect to another working computer, use explorer to copy the files to external drive
https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-USB3S2SAT3CB-Drive-Adapter-Cable/dp/B00HJZJI84

You can buy a branded 2.5 inch SATA hard drive or solid state drive to replace failed drive

These are good enough:
Spinning mechanical drive, cheap, less speed
https://www.amazon.com/Black-500GB-Performance-Mobile-Drive/dp/B00QFXOL5G

Chip based drive, bit costly, huge performance boost
http://www.samsung.com/in/business/memory-storage/850-evo-sata-3-2-5-inch-ssd/mz-75e500bw/

Manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05219344

Use HP recovery USB to factory reset OS after replacement of HDD

Thank you! I want to mention that it also showed thre messages to install an operating system. Is that in any way related?

Hard drive had failed, so operating system in it has become corrupted and is not showing up.

You've to replace HDD and reinstall operating system.
