HP ENVY x360 - 15-cp0001na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The laptop will not power on. Even when the power lead is connected and there is no light showing on the laptop. The laptop was working fine earlier. However, I restarted it using the power on key a few times and now it won't start and as I say even when the power cable is connected there's no light showing on the laptop. I purchased the laptop in may 2019 and so it is out of warranty. I'm based in Watford (near London) in the UK are there any approved HP repair centres nearby? Alternatively does anybody have any ideas? Many thanks, John

Hi @JohnR870,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your HP Envy x360 convertible not turning on. There could be several reasons why this is happening. Let's go through some troubleshooting steps to try and resolve the issue.

  • Check the power source: Ensure that your laptop is connected to a power outlet or that the battery has sufficient charge. If it's connected to a power outlet, verify that the outlet is working by plugging in another device.
  • Power reset: Perform a power reset by unplugging the power adapter from your laptop, removing the battery (if it's removable), and holding down the power button for about 15 seconds. Then, reconnect the power adapter (if applicable) and try turning on the laptop.
  • External devices and cables: Disconnect any external devices, such as USB devices, printers, or monitors, and remove any connected cables. Sometimes, a faulty external device or cable can prevent the laptop from starting up.
  • Display issue: It's possible that the laptop is turning on, but the display is not functioning properly. To check this, try connecting an external monitor to your laptop using the appropriate ports (e.g., HDMI or VGA). If you see the display on the external monitor, there may be an issue with your laptop's built-in display.
  • Memory modules: If you're comfortable doing so, you can try reseating the memory modules (RAM) in your laptop. Turn off the laptop, disconnect the power adapter, remove the battery (if applicable), and locate the memory module compartment. Carefully remove and reinsert the memory modules, ensuring they are properly seated.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
