Hello guys, so my HP envy x360 laptop is now a victim of the infamous faulty hinge problem from HP. I never knew about the issue until one day I finished working and was closing down my laptop for the day. I closed it normally and out of nowhere I started hearing a crunch and cracking saw plastic falling out of my laptop. The bottom right screen was popping out and plastic was hanging from it. I searched up the issue and saw that it was a design flaw from HP making cheap brittle hinges that break easily from the lack of support. The hinges are too small to handle all the leverage from a large display and tend to break easy even if closing it softly. I contacted HP about the issue and they tried to charge me $379.99 (tax not included) for the repair. Which is insane especially since the repair cost is 1/3 of what I paid for the laptop. The computer is out of warranty but by law companies are responsible for faulty products, especially a design flaw. There’s even a lawsuit against HP over the issue. I spoke to 2 representatives and all they tell me is they can’t do much about it other than charge me for the repair. I am not going to pay for something that is not my fault nor something that I didn’t even break. Literally the hinge failed because of the poor design from HP and this is an issue they should be held liable for. I start college soon and I am running out of options to get this issue resolved is there anyone who has had success fixing this issue with HP???
