Hello I have a go 15 da0032wm laptop I want to upgrade data hard drive to ssd hard drive.
I plan to add an m.2 pic nvme ssd 1 tb hardrive
and replace existing sata drive.
I bought it from back market (they sell reburished laptops); one of their techs said
I need a 2.5 hdd to ssd converter. Can you
give me a specific model name and number of a suitable converter?

You're very welcome.
I overlooked that your notebook came with the Intel Optane memory.
Yes, if you install a M.2 NVMe SSD, you will need to remove the Optane memory and just use the hard drive for storage.
You can't simply remove the Optane memory drive. You have to follow a procedure.
See the link below, last two sections...Disable the Optane memory in the Intel RST software, and disable it in the BIOS, if applicable.

Normally it is true that a NVMe SSD will provide blazing fast speeds over SATA, but unfortunately it has been reported by other disappointed forum members that have the 15-da0xxx model series, that the NVMe 3 x 4 SSD's only use 2 of the 4 PCIe lanes, so they only reach around half of their maximum rated sequential read/write speeds.
The good news is even with that handicap, the NVMe SSD would be around 3 x faster than a SATA SSD.
I think the NVMe SSD will still be faster than what you have now.

Hi:
You don't need a converter to install a M.2 NVMe SSD, and a 2.5" NVMe drive caddy won't work, because that does not use a SATA controller.
The 15-da0032wm PC has a M.2 slot that supports NVMe SSD's.
See chapter 1 of the service manual for the supported drive types.

Hello Paul
You have been a big help.
One more question for you:
I read somewhere that the SSD I plan to install
can be installed into my present system; however, I may have to
remove then16 gig optane memory.
If this is true will it greatly affect the speed?
thanks again
