Hp Notebook 15-dy1038ca, black boot screen with 0xc0000001 error message, non of the recovery procedures work
Tried to do a clean install of windows 10 and got a 0x800701B1 error msg when i tried deleting my harddrive partitions, also tried chkdsk and diskpart in command prompt and nothing would work as in to fix in chkdsk or any disks listed in diskpart.
Im leaning towards replacing the harddrive, if i replace the factory harddrive i wont be able to clone to my new harddrive and will my windows license transfer? with a brandnew empty hardrive? and what harddrive can i install? the specs say 256 gb pcie® nvme™ m.2 ssd, does it have to be a hp harddrive? and any recommendations where to order one from? i live in canada

Hi:
The product specs for your notebook indicate that it comes with a 256 GB NVMe M.2 SSD.
HP Notebook 15-dy1038ca Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support
The Windows license/product key is in your notebook's BIOS.
You won't need it to reinstall W10.
NVMe SSD's have come down in price over the years so you may want to consider replacing the 256 GB drive with a better performing one that has a larger storage capacity.
I recommend the Western Digital Blue SN570 500 GB M.2 NVMe SSD.
Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the M.2 SSD removal and replacement procedure.
Maintenance and Service Guide HP 15 Laptop PC
After you replace the drive, you can use the HP cloud recovery tool and a 32 GB USB flash drive to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with your PC.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility.
HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Customer Support
Since you have to use the utility on another PC, you will need to enter your PC's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed to make the recovery media.
Your PC's product number is: 7YZ72UA#ABL
