Hello I tried to charge my Hp pavilion laptop 14 bf0xx with a Hp usb c charger that is for a different computer. When I plugged it in my laptop stopped working. My original charger is broken. Is there a csmo battery is this model? I took the battery out and put it back in but that didnt help. I also held down the power button and the windows/B keys. Any advice is appreciated.

What is your 14 bf0xx machine ? It should have same ports as the following machine

                    HP Pavilion - 14-bf040wm

It ONLY has 1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1 (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s) port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to

  • Charge your machine,
  • Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter (some hubs may have builtin chip to support this)

>>>> When I plugged it in my laptop stopped working

It should do nothing, but in this case you may kill its system board. Please bring it to a Service Shop to have a check.  Machines of the series do NOT have CMOS (or RTC) battery

Regards.

Banhien thank you for your advice. I thought I would probably have to take it to a repair shop but I just thought i'd check if maybe there was a simple solution. Thanks again.
