pavilion ec0017nq
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I've recently bought the Hp pavilion 15 ec0017nq Laptop and i want to upgrade it's Ram. The reason is that the Vega 10 graphics are using 2gb of my 8gb and i cant change this setting from BIOS.  So i have only 6 gb of available ram. So my questions are:

1)can i upgrade my Ram from 8gbs to 16gbs or even better to 32gbs?

2) can i use 2666 mhz rams or 3200mhz for better performance(currently my laptop's ram speed is 2400mhz)

Hi:

Below is the link to the Crucial memory report for a similar model to yours that also has the Ryzen 3xxx processor.

Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | hp - compaq | pavilion 15-ec series | Pavilion 15-ec0017ng | Crucial.com

According to the report you can install up to 2 x 16 GB of memory in your model notebook.

No matter what speed memory beyond 2400 MHz you install, it is going to run at 2400 MHz.

Below is the link to the service manual.

Maintenance and Service Guide HP Pavilion Gaming 15 Laptop PC

Your notebook's memory allocation was designed that way on purpose.

HP released this document a while back, which explains the memory shortage...

This seems to only apply to various models with AMD Ryzen processors.
