Hp pavilion 15 ec2000 backlit keyboard upgrade

So I bought the computer off Hp website as a budget game laptop and mainly school laptop. I love and its great but I find it really hard to see anything I'm doing when night rolls around since I have no backlit keyboard. I want to know if there's any backlit keyboard upgrades. I went without it thinking I'd go cheap but its turned out to be a pretty apparent problem. If there are upgrades how much would it be and where can i find it? where would i bring it to have it installed?

I'm in the same boat, bought one a few months ago without backlight. Ended up jusing a cheap led light that clamps on the lid, since my laptop is on a caddy, it works OK.

To your question, HP laptops have the keyboard integrated with top cover, so if you really want backlit, you'll have to look at the service manual and see if yours was made with one, buy a new top cover with keyboard and backlight, tear the whole thing apart and replace it.

Post back with the full model number found on the bottom of the laptop to get a service manual.

okay cool. I would like to definitely look into it if its possible.

My model number is the Hp Pavilion 15z-ec200 and the  product number is 2P6A7AV.

If i end up having to do it myself do you know where I can get tips on what I need/ what to expect.

Start here with your Service Manual ,  It includes all the part numbers and how to replace major parts.

Use that to search HP PartSurfer, google it for resellers, try Amazon or eBay are other options..The service manual shows how to replace the the top if you are up to the task. You also want to purchase an inexpensive cell phone repair kit to use to separate the bottom cover from the top. Using a small screwdriver or pocket knife risks marring the two.
