Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

ManualsLib - Makes it easy to find manuals online!

The processor upgrade information can be found in chapter 1.

If your notebook has the Intel Core i3-2330M processor, you can upgrade to the Intel Core i7-2620M processor.

  • Hello, thank you for your comment. Thank you for the file you sent, I could not understand what to do, so maybe if I tell you my system information, you can understand it better: Cpu: intel core i3-2330m, 4gb DDr3 ram, GPU: amd radeon hd 7450m,500 gb hdd Is my system information enough to find my socket?

You're very welcome.

Your notebook's processor is the same socket type as the i7-2620M processor.

Here's a side-by-side comparison of the two processors:

Intel® Product Specification Comparison

The socket type is PPGA988.

The other socket type is for processors soldered to the motherboard, which yours is not.

Chapter 4 of the service manual I posted has the processor removal and replacement procedure.

Hello, thank you for bothering me again. Is it possible to upgrade to the i7-2640m processor? Or should I use the maximum i7-2620m processor? I am very excited, sorry to tire you out.

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, I don't know the answer to your question.

Theoretically it should work, but I cannot find any posts regarding anyone installing a different processor other than what was listed in the service manual.

Here is a side-by-side comparison of the two processors:

Intel® Product Specification Comparison

If your notebook's BIOS does not have the microcode to support the i7-2640m, it won't work and there is no way to find that information out.

I also checked this website which has uploads of many PC's and notebook, entered your notebook's model number, got nothing, entered g6-1000, G6-1100, g6-1200, and g6-1300 and got nothing.

What exactly should I do to find my computer's model number? After removing the battery from my computer, I saw the message 1309et.

HP Recommended

Yes, you have a G6-1309et.

Knowing that isn't going to let you know if the notebook will support a processor not listed in the service manual.

Like I wrote, theoretically it should work but in reality, I can't say.

You are right, thank you for replying to my questions. The website I went to for the model of my computer on the internet said BGA1023 socket, which scared me a lot, so I wanted to ask my questions.

You're very welcome.

Your notebook's processor as well as either of the ones you want to upgrade to come in two socket types.

Soldered ((BGA1023), and not soldered (PPGA988).

Your notebook has the removable PPGA988 processor as chapter 4 has the processor removal and replacement procedure.

There would be no procedure to remove a processor in chapter 4 of the manual if it was a BGA processor.

There would only be a fairly large list of motherboards all having different model BGA processors.

As you can see in chapter 3, the list of Intel motherboards is only broken down by if it comes with an HM65 or HM55 chipset (yours has the HM65) and the different graphics configurations offered.

Graphics are integral parts of the motherboard.
