My laptop screen keeps popping out of place in the bottom right hand corner when I open it I don’t know what to do to put it back or make it stop I can’t afford to buy another one I’ve only had it for a year but at the moment I’m using it everyday for college. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. thanks

I have the same problem, on the lower left.  I can see a square black plastic immovable tab, and a round metal tab that retracts when pressed -- but I can't lever the screen back into place, and am concerned that I will break it if I keep trying.  Given the dozens and dozens of complaints on this forum, it's obvious that this is a common problem -- can you please publicly give instructions for how to repair this?

There is no single one-size fits all repair technique. It is going to take disassembly, evaluation and possibly replacement of multiple parts. Some pictures of the damage would help but may still need to be taken to a technician. The underlying problem is the screen hinge.

Hi @Hannah42,ri30,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

As this is a hardware issue, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Have a great day!

Here's a photo.  It looks like a purely mechanical issue, so possibly fixable at home?

I'd be grateful for any advice.

Photo doesn't seem to come out properly -- any suggestions on how to attach or embed differently?
