I got this laptop a month ago and all of a sudden the screen is Flickering. If you're wondering if I downloaded something it that may contribute to this the biggest thing i downloaded was cad software but it was fine when I was using it. The Flickering just started randomly.

Hi @rem45,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

Update Graphics Drivers:

  • Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can often lead to screen flickering. Visit the HP website or use Windows Update to ensure your graphics drivers are up to date.

Adjust Refresh Rate:

  • Right-click on the desktop, go to "Display settings," and under the "Advanced display settings," make sure the display's refresh rate is set to the recommended value. Adjusting it too high can cause flickering.

Check for Malware or Viruses:

  • Run a full system scan using your antivirus software to check for malware or viruses that might be affecting your system's performance.

Boot in Safe Mode:

  • Restart your laptop in Safe Mode to see if the flickering continues. If it doesn't occur in Safe Mode, it may indicate that a third-party software or driver is causing the problem.

Disable Hardware Acceleration:

  • Some applications, particularly web browsers, use hardware acceleration to render content. Try disabling hardware acceleration in the settings of the application that is flickering (e.g., a web browser) to see if it helps.

Update BIOS:

  • Check if there is a BIOS update available for your HP Pavilion 15 on the HP website. Sometimes, updating the BIOS can resolve hardware-related issues.

Inspect Hardware Connections:

  • Ensure that all cables and connectors, including the laptop's display cable, are securely connected. Loose or damaged connections can cause screen flickering.

Run Hardware Diagnostics:

  • HP laptops often come with built-in hardware diagnostics tools. You can run these diagnostics to check for hardware issues, including problems with the screen or graphics card.

External Display:

  • Connect your laptop to an external monitor. If the external monitor displays without flickering, it may suggest a problem with the laptop's built-in screen.

System Restore:

  • If the issue started recently, consider performing a system restore to a point when the screen was not flickering.

Contact HP Support:

  • If none of the above steps resolves the issue, and your laptop is still under warranty, it's a good idea to contact HP customer support or visit an authorized service center for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
