I would like to know if it is possible to perform a clean install of windows 10 using any third part m.2 drive or even the stock drive? When using the media creation tool from MS for windows 10, it gets to the section for selecting what drive to install onto. With the stock intel m.2 used, the setup of windows 10 does not see the drive but the system does within bios. Also the system is using this same drive to naturally run windows 10 out of the box. Windows 10 now also has drivers bundled for nvme out of the box. I went and downloaded the intel driver for the nvme for use during the setup just for kicks and it still failed to see the drive. I have used another name drive as well WD sn750 that the system does see in the bios but again windows 10 does not see it in setup.
I'm at this point thinking that the intel m.2 drive has a preinstalled boot loader that is specific for this laptop. The bios has very little freedom to play with so it makes me think that the custom firmware of the bios by hp purposely implemented this restrictions so you really shouldn't use another drive other than the stock drive to perhaps load their cloud os image.
If there is anyway to perform a clean install of windows 10 then I would like to know.
Thanks

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,
The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Sorry that was not the solution I was wanting.
I am wanting a solution to be able to 'clean' install windows 10 on this laptop. I have found the solution for anyone wanting to do this. I have successfully performed a clean install on the stock h10 intel nvme m.2 drive and a wd sn750.
You need to use the intel RST VMD driver: F6flpy-x64 (Intel® VMD).zip . This allows windows 10 setup to recognize the nvme drive inorder to install.
