Hi @Yoguy,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Tilt Pen (MPP 2.0) is showing a red light but not charging, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Check Charging Method and Connection

Verify Charging Cable and Adapter:

  • Since you’ve lost the original charger, ensure that you’re using a compatible USB-C cable or adapter that matches the specifications required by the pen.
  • Use a reliable USB-C charger that provides sufficient power output. Some chargers might not deliver enough power for certain devices.

Inspect the Charging Port:

  • Check the charging port on the pen for any debris or damage. Clean it gently with a dry, soft brush or compressed air if necessary.

2. Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Reset the Pen:
    • While the HP Tilt Pen doesn’t have a traditional reset button, try disconnecting it from the charging source, waiting a few minutes, and reconnecting it to see if it begins charging.

3. Check for Firmware Updates

Update Pen Firmware:

  • If you have a compatible HP device (like an HP laptop or tablet) and the HP Pen Control software installed, check if there are any firmware updates available for the pen.

Install Software:

  • Download and install the HP Pen Control or HP Support Assistant software from the HP Support website to check for updates and manage the pen settings.

4. Test with Different Chargers

  1. Use a Different USB-C Cable and Charger:
    • Try using another USB-C cable and charger to see if the issue persists. Make sure the replacement charger supports the correct power output.

5. Evaluate Battery Health

  1. Battery Degradation:
    • If the pen has not been charged for several months, it’s possible that the battery has degraded or become unable to hold a charge

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
