Hi @Sudhanshu28,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The excessive noise and vibration from the fan in your HP Victus 15 with an i7 12th generation processor could indicate several potential issues. Here's how you can address it.
Check for Dust or Debris:
- Dust buildup in the fan area can cause excessive noise and vibration. Clean the fan area using compressed air or take the laptop to a professional to remove dust and debris.
Update BIOS and Drivers:
- BIOS Update: Fan control is often managed through the BIOS. An outdated BIOS can cause improper fan speed control.
- Driver Updates: Ensure all hardware drivers, especially for the thermal management system, are up to date. You can find these updates on the HP Support website.
HP CoolSense:
- If your laptop has HP CoolSense installed, check its settings. This feature adjusts the fan speed and can be set to quiet mode to reduce noise.
Power Settings:
- Adjust Power Settings: If the laptop is running in "High Performance" mode, it might force the fan to run at higher speeds. Switching to "Balanced" or "Power Saver" modes could help reduce the fan activity.
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options and select a power plan that conserves energy.
Check CPU Usage:
- High CPU Usage: If your CPU is under heavy load, it might cause the fan to run at full speed. Open Task Manager and check if any processes are causing high CPU usage, and close any unnecessary programs.
Thermal Paste or Hardware Issue:
- If the laptop is overheating, it could be due to old or misapplied thermal paste between the CPU/GPU and their heatsinks.
Laptop Positioning:
- Ensure that the laptop is placed on a flat, hard surface to avoid obstructing the airflow. Using a cooling pad might also help reduce the temperature and fan noise.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
