Hp 255 G4
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)
Hi. I used crucial.com to check if I can add another RAM to my HP 255 g4 notebook. The results showed that I have 4gb RAM (which is correct) and I have another slot for another RAM. It also showed that the maximum I can have is 8gb RAM. I ordered my specification. I took the RAM with my notebook to an engineer and he added the RAM.

Here is the problem:before adding the RAM, it was showing 4gb ram(2.99gb usable).after adding the ram it shows me 8gb(2.99gb usable) which I dont think it is meant to be. Any suggestions

Hi,

32 BIT  Operating systems can only use maximum of 4GB of RAM

WIN 10 Operating System will use upto  1GB of reserved memory, thats the minumum requirement of the OS

You will have to upgrade to 64 BIT OS to use more Mem

One more thing. The engineer is going against your words.

Here is our argument: after adding another RAM, is it not supposed to move at least 1gb up(I.e from 4gb RAM {2.99gb usable} to 8gb RAM {3.99gb usable}

And how do I upgrade to 64bit
