Hello,
I was trying to download and update the HP BIOS. First I was asked to key in my serial number. After keying it in, the model detected by HP isnt my model. My Model 15-a1001AX while HP site detected the model as
HP Notebook - 15-af013cl.
There seems to be no way to correctly download the BIOS , unless I am mistaken somewhere.
2. Will my machine be bricked if I flash the wrong BIOS?
Thank you for any replies

Hi:
I can't find any infomation on any HP 15-a1001AX model.
Most don't have a model series label like you posted.
What is the product number of your notebook?
The product number can normally be found on the same label as the serial number.
Do not post the serial number.

Thank you very much. I was able to flash the F.25 BIOS
I have a couple of queries.
1. Is the much talked spectre and meltdown vulnerabilities been addressed by the F.25 BIOS I applied just now?
2. In case the laptop is flashed with a different model's BIOS, is there any recovery process or is it bricked?

You're very welcome.
If you look at the release notes for the BIOS update, all it states is this...- Provides improved security.
Unfortunately, I don't know if that fixes the spectre and meltdown vulnerabilities, with such a vague release note.
Usually, but not always, a BIOS update from another model won't install.
If it did, you can pretty much bet it would brick the notebook.
I do not know if or how you would be able to recover from such a situation.

When the other model BIOS is flashed, the machine will not boot, not only that but it wont come to the BIOS stage. Hence I do feel that the nmachine would brick as there is no way it could reflash the correct BIOS.
After flashingg the BIOS I saw the BIOS settings which doesnt give the date of the BIOS, it does give the BIOS version which is F.25. I think not getting the date is common.
