HP Notebook - 15-bw016nl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Good evening.

I bought a HP Notebook 15-bw016nl on 25th of July 2018.

As you can see on this website It should be equipped with an AMD Radeon™ 530 (DDR3 2 GB), but I recently discovered that It is not.

In fact I casually noticed that Windows 10 shows that my laptop is equipped with an AMD Radeon™ R7, which is confirmed by CPU-Z.

So where is my AMD Radeon™ 530?

Can someone help me to understand what happened to my video card, please?Screenshot (1) - Copia.pngScreenshot (2) - Copia.pngScreenshot (3).png

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

  • Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
  • Have you checked the product specification of the video card in HP support assistant?
Open HP support assistant >Select specifications > Video card
  •  Please share the screenshot of the Video card specifications from HP Support Assistant.

While you respond to that, let's try BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629

And also Perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant:

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

   Dear Echo_Lake,

   Good evening.

Thank you very much for helping me and guiding me through this.

I followed your instructions step by step, but Windows 10 and CPU-Z show me the same hardware features as yesterday.

Anyway HP Support Assistant, after updating BIOS and TouchPad (Bluetooth and Wireless have blue information icons), shows me this: Screenshot (4).png

   Dear @Echo_Lake,

   Good evening.

Sorry for the tag.

So there is no solution?

So I paid for an AMD Radeon™ 530 (DDR3 2 GB) but I got an AMD Radeon™ R7, maybe a M340, instead?

I don't get It.

As I've mentioned earlier this release is from the AMD, however, you can use your computer without any hassle,  AMD provided drivers for laptop products that use a generic Device ID. This has no impact on performance, It just a name change due to AMD updates.

   Dear Echo_Lake,

   Good afternoon.

I read it earlier, but how can I verify that?

I'm sorry, but It seems absurd to me, so enlighten me, please.

P.S.: It would be unacceptable to me to use a video card released on December 2015 when I paid for a video card released on April 2017.
