This is my first time posting so I have no clue whether or not this is the right Board for this type of question.
Recently my laptop broke, the power button would glow but the screen would never start up and it would turn back off. I have now bought a new laptop and am posting directly from there.
The problem is there were very important files in that previous laptop so I'm trying to transfer them from that laptop to this new one. Even bigger problem is I have no clue where the hard drive is in my laptop, every video of an hp pavilion laptop I've seen looks completely different from mine and can't find where to take it out from.
I'm not exactly sure how to post pictures here

Hi:
It depends on what type of drive your PC came with.
The model series came with 2.5" mechanical hard drives or M.2 2280 solid state drives.
Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the removal and replacement procedure for either type of drive.

It's that green 'gumstick' shaped drive in the slot above where the 2.5" drive would have gone.
In order to read any data from the drive, you will need to purchase a M.2 to USB 3/USB-C enclosure.
Some M.2 SSD's are SATA, some are NVMe.
There should be a label on the drive that tells you what type it is.
Normally SATA M.2 SSD's have two notches where they go into the slot and NVMe SSD's have one notch.
What I would do if I were you would be to buy a M.2 SSD enclosure that supports either type of drive.
Some support one type or the other.
Something like this, which supports both types.
